Road teams earn a rare sweep on the first night of conference play as Pinecrest, Scotland and Richmond all picked up victories to open up SEC play 1-0.
In a match up of two teams who entered the season with some question marks in the pitching department, Pinecrest pushed two runs across the plate in the sixth on a pair of Lumberton throwing errors to break open a 1-1 game and edge the Pirates 3-1.
Over in Raeford, it wasn't pretty, but Richmond was able to overcome allowing a baserunner in every inning and being outhit, as well as escaping a bases loaded situation in the sixth without damage to knock off Hoke and win rather comfortably, 8-2.
Down in Pembroke, Scotland withstood a big night at the plate by Swett senior Chase Armstrong, and held off a late charge from the Rams to pick up a 7-5 win to begin league play.
