Hello Coaches,

As you know on June 13-15, Cox Mill HS will be the host site for the National Guard/ NFL HSPD Camp. Attached you will find the forms for your players to fill out to participate at the camp. Each player must have an up to date physical , and a copy of each player’s physical must be accompanied with the Participant Release Form. If a player doesn’t have a physical, he must fill out the Participant Medical Form and the Participant Release Form. All FORMS must be signed by a PARENT. On May 7th 2012 at 6pm there will be a meeting at Cox Mill, which at that time the rosters and all the necessary documents must be turned in. I am also looking for coaches to work the camp. If you are interested please me know.

MISSION STATEMENT

The NFL’s High School Player Development program addresses challenges facing high school football programs across the country focusing primarily on underserved communities. HSPD serves as a free resource for both high school players and coaches. The program emphasizes safety and concussion awareness, character development and life skills, and football fundamentals.

OVERVIEW OF PROGRAM

? HSPD camps occur April through August

? Camps are free and include 5 sessions

? Participants receive a 13-month HSPD Student Planner while coaches receive the matching HSPD Coach Planner (which includes the character development curriculum)

? Coaches also receive an HSPD Instructional DVD and Practice Plan (which explains how each football session should be run)

? During the 1st session of camp, it is mandatory for site managers and coaches to cover the following topics:

? Concussion Awareness (CDC information is included in planners)

? NCAA guidelines (NCAA information is included in planners)

? Time Management along with at least four other life skill topics

? During the remaining four sessions, participants are taught football fundamentals for one offensive and one defensive position (which should be assigned prior to the camp)

? There should be a 10:1 participant to coach ratio at each camp

? At the Cox Mill site we will also do 7 on 7.

If you have any questions feel free to contact me. I would like for you to place the information on your site .
