Video: Smelter shows skills
DeAndre Smelter may be from a very small school in middle Georgia, but he could be one of the better overall athletes in the state. The junior out of Tattnall Square lines up all over the field for Barney Hester.
Smelter is a 6-foot-2, 205 pound athlete that plays safety, running back, and wide receiver. He is very good against the run and can make plays inside the box also.
As a sophomore, he had 11 interceptions, so he can make big plays in the secondary as well as be a big play threat on the offensive side of the ball.
Schools like Auburn and Georgia amongst others are already showing interest in the Macon native. He will likely become a linebacker on the next level, but safety a possibility as well.
