Keyshawn Woods participates in JL Classic
A smooth scorer with a relentless motor, Charlotte (N.C.) Northside Christian 2-guard Keyshawn Woods is a versatile prospect who will make an immediate impact at Charlotte next season.
Woods played in the Josh Level Classic on Friday night where Niner Report got a chance to talk with the future 49er about the end of his high school career, and his transition to the college game.
After playing an integral role on a Northside Christian squad that won a third consecutive NCISAA state championship, Woods traveled with his team to the Geico National Tournament in New York City.
Although the Knights lost in the first round against a loaded Oak Hill Academy roster, Woods took a lot away from the event.
"It was a great experience. We got to be in Times Square, and play on a national level," said Woods. "Northside has never done that, and I was glad to be a part of it. Even though we didn't win it was a blessing to be there."
As for the next step in his playing career, Woods is headed to campus in June, where he'll be rooming with fellow Charlotte signee Torin Dorn, who he has been in constant contact with.
"We're cool. We text, we've been talking about what we're going to do next season, the work we want to put in to get better, and everything we can do to help the 49ers win."
When asked what his role will be next season, Woods responded: "To be honest, just go out and do whatever I can to help us win. I don't know what my role is, but I know I'm going to do whatever it takes. Whether it's coming off the bench, or starting, I don't care."
