Burns defeats Forestview

KINGS MOUNTAIN - Playing their first "home away from home" game in the 1st round of the NCHSAA 3A State playoffs Friday night, the Burns Bulldogs defeated the Forestview Jaguars 28-6 at Kings Mountain's John Gamble Stadium.
The theme of the night was defense for Coach Matt Beam's Burns squad. With a defensive line that averages our over six foot and 300 pounds, the Bulldogs were able to stifle a Forestview offense that came into the nights contest averaging over 33 points per game.The Jaguars were only able to manage nine yards and one first down before halftime.

Junior QB Chris Montgomery accounted for all four of his teams scores, two passing and two on the ground. A 50 yard connection with Jaylin Hill and a 66 yard bomb to Gilbert Brooks accounted for the touchdown throws in the first half. Runs of 25 and three yards made up Montgomery's ground scores.
Burns (9-3) advances to host Hickory (at John Gamble Stadium) next Friday night in the second round of the 3A State playoffs. Forestview wraps up their 2012 campaign 7-5.
