Caiden Norman has been a main-stay at quarterback for the Cleveland Rams (3-3) for the past few years. Norman, a senior is one of North Carolina’s top passing leaders so far through the first 6 weeks of the 2016 season. He has thrown for over 1,600 yards with 21 touchdowns for the Rams.
He is hoping for a chance to play at the next level. In 2015, Norman was an all-area and all-conference selection in leading Cleveland to a state playoff berth.
NCPreps.com’s Chris Hemphill had a chance to catch up with the Cleveland standout and ask him about his season and recruiting information.
How has the season been going for you thus far?
“Our season this year so far has been pretty good. We have a lot of young guys and watching them mature has been really fun to watch. Our record is 3-3 which is nothing we like very much. But it's also what our record was last year at this time and we finished the season as conference champions with a 10-4 record.”
What things did you do in the off-season to prep for this season?
“This off-season I've trained like crazy on getting stronger, fixing mechanical flaws, and also becoming better with my footwork.”
What is your current recruiting situation? Have any college offered or contacted you?
“Right now, I have no offers, and not much recruiting activity. I am very hopeful something will come because all I want is an opportunity. No matter if It's a walk-on or a scholarship.”
How often do you break down game film on games you have played to improve on mistakes?
“I watch game film every day for an hour probably.”
What is your dream college?
“I don't really have a dream college because I've always been that guy who people said is too slow or not tall enough or hands are too small. So really for college all I want is an opportunity.”
What NFL player your model your game after?
“I really look up to Tom Brady. He's very calm in the pocket and he's a winner. He also has excellent footwork.”
What is the longest pass you have thrown this year?
“I threw a 54-yard ball in the air for a touchdown versus Terry Sanford before halftime. My longest pass that was on a 79-yard play which my receiver did most the work.”
What’s the biggest game left on your schedule?
“Triton on homecoming.”
How does it feel to be amongst one of the state’s top passers state-wise right now?
“It's an honor I just know I gotta keep working to become even better and thank God for how far I've come. I hope to have more chances for success and I would give credit to my coaches for helping me become the player I am today and more mature.”

“I am 6'1 1/2 and 190.”

Who are the biggest influences in your life?
“My mom is because she always keeps me positive and is a huge motivator.”
What makes you a leader?
“I'm not a vocal leader. I usually lead by example. Sometimes I can get fired up, get excited, and let the guys know when it's time to turn up and get serious. But most the time I'm laid back.”
