How did it feel to open the season with a monster passing performance of completed 19 of 28 passes for 233 yards and 4 touchdowns?
“It felt good to go out there and beat them at their place. I have to give credit to my O-line because I wasn’t sacked at all.”
What things did you work on in the off-season to allow you to come back better this season?
“My footwork is a big thing I’ve worked on this off-season. It starts with the feet and your ball is a product of your feet. I’ve also put on some more weight and have gotten a lot stronger in the weight room.”
What mental preparations do you take leading up to each game?
“I visualize every play in my head and different scenarios that could happen before each game. I pray before each game to clear my head and get focused. “
What was your GPA this past season?
“4.3 weighted”
What colleges are recruiting you? Do you have a dream college?
“This summer I’ve been to Wake Forest, NC State, ECU, Coastal Carolina, UNC, and Boston College for camps. NC State is my dream school.”
What made you decide to play quarterback over other positions in football?
“I really enjoy the pressure of being quarterback. I like being in control of the game. I came in to high school playing receiver, but that didn’t last long.”
What makes you a leader?
“I like to lead by my actions. Be first in line, first to finish on team sprints, or first to praise my teammates.”
What advice can you give to an incoming freshman QB looking to make Varsity?
“I’d tell him to not let anyone out work him and to earn the respect of his teammates.”
What is the longest touchdown you have thrown in high school?
“Last year, I threw a 75-yarder to William Wicks.”
How much time do you spend studying old game film?
“I try to spend an hour everyday scouting my opponent. “
What is something your good at that most may not know of outside of football?
“Baseball.”
What are you expectations for the season?
“State Championship! We fell short of it last year, and have our eyes set on it this year.”
Who has impacted your life the most?
“My family has impacted my life the most. My parents are always supportive of everything I do, and want the best for me. My brothers have been great role models in my life, and have pushed me to be the best I can be.”
Why should a college recruit you?
“I feel like my athleticism and knowledge of the game is above a lot of other people. My decision making and ability to read a defense is something I’ve gotten a lot better at. The biggest thing I feel like that separates me is my character. I’m very confident in myself, and I feel like you have to be to play at a high level. I believe the best players are the best learners, and I’m not where I want to be yet but I’m getting there.”
