NCPreps Staff Analyst

In the past few years, no high school in North Carolina has produced more Division 1 quarterbacks than Butler High School in Matthews. The list is pretty impressive with Jacob Charest, Christian Lemay, Riley Ferguson, and Anthony Ratliff-Williams. Next up on that list is senior Davis Cheek, who has verbally committed to Elon.

Cheek, a 6-3 180 all-conference selection for Coach Brian Hales completed 155 of 263 passes last year for 2,108 yards with 16 touchdowns. He helped the powerhouse Bulldogs to a 10-3 record.

NCPreps.com's Chris Hemphill caught up with Cheek and he had the following thoughts on the upcoming season.

"I expect us to go deep in the playoffs and win the State Championship."

What made you choose Elon to play college ball?

"I love the coaches, environment, team, and academics. The biggest thing is that it felt like home."

How does it feel to play for a traditional football powerhouse like Butler HS?

"250"

How often do you watch game film to better your self and help you understand different defenses?

"Generally every day."
