Standouts Accept Invitations to NCCA East-West All-Star Men's Basketball Game
Nineteen of the states top basketball seniors have accepted invitations to participate in the NCCA East-West All-Star Games in July.
The 58th men's basketball all-star game will be played July 17 in the main arena of the Greensboro Coliseum (tipoff at approximately 20 minutes after the conclusion of the 6:30 women's game).
Three All-State selections, including the State Player of the Year, are expected to compete in the men's basketball game.
AP Player of the Year, Dudley High's William Graves will lead the West. A UNC signee, he will be joined by Wake Forest signees Jamie Skeen, also an All-State selection, of North Mecklenburg High, and Ishmael Smith of Central Cabarrus High.
The East will counter with All-State selection John Fields of Jack Britt High, an ECU signee.
Head coach Fred Lynch of Laney High will coach the East, and head coach Woody Huneycutt of Thomasville High will coach the West. The West won last year's contest, but the East holds a slim 29-28 edge in the all-time series.
