NCPreps.com Spotlight: Cade Mintz

Sophomore wide receiver/defensive back Cade Mintz of Cherokee High located in Cherokee (NC) is ready for the upcoming football season. Mintz and his brother Tye, who played quarterback and defensive back were integral parts of Braves (14-1) state championship team last year.

How did you season go?

"It was rough at first because I tore my meniscus, but the season went well. We won the SMC and the 1A State Championship."

What honors or awards did you receive?

"I made SMC All-Conference and All-WNC."

What were your stats from last year?

"I caught 47 passes for 1,246 yards with 11 touchdowns. On defense, I had 39 tackles and 2 interceptions."

What are your strengths on the field?

"I have a quick first step and route running."

What other sports do you play?

"Basketball and track."

What schools have shown interest in you?

"We are just starting the recruiting process."

What player do you model you game after and why?

"Julio Jones because he catches everything and that's how I come into every game."

What are you plans for the off-season?

"I just want to get stronger and faster."

What are your goals on the field for 2018?

"I want to have more yards than last year and be a state champion again."
