NCPreps.com Spotlight: Camden Woods

Wake Christian (NC) Class of 2018 Camden Woods is trying to make a name for himself for the next level. The 6'3 235 pound defensive end is one of the top players for the Bulldogs (6-4) who start their playoff run this Friday.

Woods has been offered a preferred walk-on spot by Duke, but has generated some recruiting interest from some solid FCS schools and Division 2 schools. He is an excellent student-athlete with a 4.5 GPA.

NCPreps.com caught up with Woods to find out more about the Bulldog star.

How is your season going?

"The season is going well. We are 6-4 heading into the first round of the playoffs. We are really starting to click, and it is exciting. On defense, we are heading into the playoffs hot as we have not allowed a touchdown in the last two games. The motto has always been to do our jobs, and we have learned to bounce back. Even after losses, we made adjustments and went back to work to get ready for the upcoming challenge."

What are your season stats?

"As of 10/30, I have 3 sacks, 62 tackles, and 28 tackles for loss."

What are your career stats?

"So far I have 19.5 sacks, 169 tackles, and 66 tackles for loss. I was named first team all-state and all-conference following my junior year."

What are your strengths on the field?

"I play both ways on the offensive and defensive line. I also long snap. I have played all positions on the offensive and defensive line in my career. Many opposing and college coaches talk about my full speed play, and that I never quit. I prepare all off-season for Friday nights and take training, nutrition, and recovery very seriously. This year many teams have run opposite me, and I work hard to pursue from the backside and make the play. I was honored to be selected as captain and lead my team this year. I am often double teamed and still make the play. I have active hands, strong hips, and am successful at shedding blockers. I am able to anticipate plays from studying film before the game."

What other sports do you play?

" I play varsity basketball and track and field.

What schools are interested in you?

"I have had visits at Duke, Campbell, Liberty, and Wofford and have talked to William & Mary, Columbia, Davidson and Old Dominion. I am interested in studying business or pre-med. Being a collegiate student-athlete has been my biggest dream and life-long goal."

Who is your favorite football player?

"My favorite player is J.J. Watt. I love his drive and work ethic. He has worked for everything in his career, from betting on himself at Wisconsin to battling injuries. This is something I try and do myself by working hard for what I want and pursuing it."
