NCPreps.com Spotlight: Coleman Reich

Ledford (NC) 2019 athlete Coleman Reich is working hard in this off-season to be an even better player. The 6-0 185 pounder verbally committed to UNC this past Fall and attended several of the Tar Heel football games.

Reich, a 3-star Rivals prospect is ranked 39th in North Carolina in the Class of 2019. He played on both sides of the ball for the Panthers and was a key player in their playoff run.

NCPreps.com caught up with Reich on Friday to get the latest info on his plans for the upcoming year.

How did your junior season end up (stat-wise)?

“On offense, I ran 31 times for 217 yards and caught 33 passes for 593 yards with 8 TDs. Offensively, I played some wildcat, running back, and receiver. On defense, I had 46 total tackles w/ 33 solo and 2 INTs. Defensively, I mainly played as the lockdown corner/ DB. I played punt and kickoff returner as well. I was a little disappointed because I missed 4 games to a MCL strain I suffered in the 3rd game of the season, but it completely healed and I came back and finished the season off strong.”

What are some things you will be working on in the off-season?

“I am working out 4 days a week with my personal trainer to get faster and stronger. I am also working with a defensive back specific trainer in Greensboro on Saturdays to improve my footwork, agility, and study film.”

You committed to UNC last Fall. Are you still 100% committed?

“Yes, I am.”

Are there other schools that are contacting you? If so, who and what is their pitch?

“Virginia Tech (Coach Wiles), NC State (Coach Henry) and Duke (Coach Bridge) contact me weekly and all have visited me at school over past 2 weeks.

What are your plans (visits, camps, combines) for the upcoming 2018 season?

“I have been invited to Virginia Tech, NC State and obviously UNC. I will be visiting UNC on January 27. At this point, I am not sure which camps I will attend as I like to compete and stay active. The only confirmed camp I know of right now is the Rivals 3 Stripe Camp that I received an invite to.”

Who is your favorite football player and why?

“Christian McCaffrey because I see myself as being a versatile athlete like he is. He is someone who likes to have the ball and make plays.”
