NCPreps.com Spotlight: Jireh Wilson

Northside High School (NC) Safety Jireh Wilson has wreaked havoc throughout Onslow County for two seasons now. The 6’2 191 pound athlete excels at the Safety position as well as his position as a student in the classroom. Wilson boasts a 4.28 GPA and a 21 ACT score. Needless to say, Jiheh Wilson epitomizes the term “STUDENT-Athlete.” The three-sport star has drawn major attention from several FBS programs due to his versatility and athleticism. Wilson verbally committed to East Carolina University on June, 19th 2017.

Wilson is a long, rangy Safety who can cover a lot of ground as well as come down hill and lay a devastating on opposing ball-carriers. His hard work on the field has not gone unnoticed. Wilson received heavy accolades after a standout junior campaign. The All-State selection also excels on the basketball court and spends his time during the spring as a Sprinter on the Track team.

How is your Season going?

“Our season is going well. We are 5-3 and moving forward in a positive direction as a team.”

What are your season stats?

“ Currently I have 20 catches for 330 yards a 4 touchdowns. On Defense, I have 3 interceptions, 3 forced fumbles, 2 fumble recoveries (1 returned for a touchdown), and 1 punt return touchdown.”

What are your Career stats?

“ For my career I have 74 catches for 1202 yards and 19 touchdowns. On defense, 14 interceptions (1 Pick-Six), 10 forced fumbles, 6 fumble recoveries (1 returned for a touchdown). I have 23 total touchdowns in my career.

What are your strengths on the field?

“My biggest strength is that I can plat any position that I’m needed at a very high level. I am a great playmaker and I can make game changing plays. I play very smart and my IQ is very high which helps me on the field and it helps put me in the right place to make plays.”

What other sports do you play?

“My other sports are basketball and track.”

What schools are you interested in?

“I have offers from ECU, Vanderbilt, Old Dominion, Charlotte, Coastal Carolina, and Campbell.”
