NCPreps.com Spotlight: Kennique Bonner-Stewart

Hough (NC) quarterback Kennique Bonner-Stewart is an athletic signal-caller with a high ceiling. The 6'3 210-pounder displayed his playmaking ability in the first game of the season against the eventual 4A State Champions Harding University (NC). The Huskies fell to Harding (NC) 24-22 behind Stewart's 3 total touchdowns. This game established Stewart as one of the top dual-threat quarterbacks in the area, and opposing teams feared him as such. He led his team to a 11-4 record as well as a birth in the NCHSAA 4AA State Playoffs, falling to Mallard Creek in the fourth round.

"I'm a student first and a player second. I think that I can be a big influence on any program I'm a part of. I love being a field rat, I try to find new ways to make my team better every day as a leader." Stewart explained.

Kennique has definitely applied that rhetoric to his life as a student as he boasts a 3.4 GPA in the classroom. His knowledge of the game and awareness is one of the main reasons why he was one of Mecklenburg County's top passers this season. The junior gunslinger has yet to receive any offers, however, he hopes that will change after his stellar junior season.

" My recruiting process is picking up. I haven't got any offers yet but a lot of schools want to see me throw at their camp this spring and summer." Stewart told NCPreps.

The versatile quarterback plans on visiting Alabama, NC State, UNC, VT, UCLA, Penn State, FAU among others this spring.
