NCPreps.com Spotlight: Lamont Murray

Lamont Murray, 5-9 150 athlete from Pamlico HS in Bayboro (NC) had an impressive junior season for the 9-5 Hurricanes. Murray played all over the field and excelled in all 3 phases of the game. He rarely came off the field by playing offense, defense, and special teams. The junior is hoping to continue his playing career after his high school season and is trying to improve each day to reach that goal.

NCPreps.com reached out to Murray to get an update on him in the off-season.

How did your season go?

“My season went very good.”

What honors or awards did you receive?

“I made the all-area team and 1A All-State.”

What were your season stats?

“I passed for 238 yards, rushed for 1,020 yards, and had 116 receiving yards for a total of 1,587 all-purpose yards. I scored 24 total touchdowns and scored 153 points. On special teams, I returned 4 punts and 2 kickoffs for scores. Defensively, I had 98 tackles, 2 interceptions, and 2 fumble recoveries.”

What are your strengths on the field?

“I believe it’s my vision and instinct.”

What other sports do you play?

“I play basketball and run track.”

What schools have shown interest in you?

“Charlotte, Campbell, and NC Central.”

What player do you model your game after and why?

“It’s Lamar Jackson because he reminds me of myself.”

What are your plans for the off-season?

“I work out a lot and will be attending Charlotte and NC Central camps.”

What are your goals on the field for 2018?

“I just want to get better than last year.”
