NCPreps.com Spotlight: Nicholas Treco

Class of 2019 all-purpose back Nicholas Treco decided to make a life change that could bring in huge benefits. Treco, a 5'11 185 pounder starred at Concord (N.C.) First Assembly Academy, but transferred to state powerhouse Mallard Creek in Charlotte (N.C.) in the Spring semester.

NCPreps.com caught up with Treco to get an update on him and his recruitment.


How did your season go?

"As a team we started kind of slow, we had a new QB and a young O-line and a few late players who joined the team, so it took us a few games to get going, once we did, we made the playoffs but got upset in the second round of the playoffs."

What honors or awards did you receive?

"I was the leading rusher in our conference and was All-Conference, I was NCPreps.com Private School All-State and Independent Tribune Cabarrus County Dream Team. I was also RBC Private School Player of the Week for week 3."

What were stats from last year?

"I had 2,182 All Purpose Yards, 17 TD’s, 1,360 Rushing Yards, 6 Interceptions and 46 tackles."

What are your strengths on the field?

"My versatility is my biggest strength. I started all 35 varsity games I played at CFA. I am a running back with slot receiver skills or a slot receiver who can run the ball between the tackles. I also play free safety with 11 interceptions and a 144 career tackles."

What other sports do you play?

"I was NCISAA All Conference and All State in Track the last 2 track seasons."

What schools have shown interest in you?

"I received my first offer from Old Dominion on March 7th. Brown, William and Mary, Harvard, Furman, Cornell, Columbia, Colgate, Air Force, and Lehigh."

What player do you model your game after and why?

"Christian McCaffery and Julian Edelman because they both have offensive versatility, run good routes and can run after the catch."

What are your plans for the off-season?

"I transferred to Mallard Creek for the spring semester so that I can get in the weight room with Coach Littlejohn, who is one of the best strength coaches in Charlotte and learn the offense with the coaching staff and to be here for spring football."

What are your goals on the field for 2018?

"I have one goal and that is to help Mallard Creek win another State Championship! If we do that, all the other things I want from my high school football career will fall into place."
