NCPreps.com Spotlight: Nomi McMullens

Nomi McMullens, a 6'0 175 athlete from Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy in Mooresboro (NC) had a strong junior season in 2017. McMullens plays quarterback and defensive back for the Gryphons (11-2) and excelled in both positions. The Class of 2019 prospect is hoping to improve his game even more and gain some exposure from colleges.

How did your season go?

"My season went amazing. We went 11-2 and should have played in the state championship, but the 3rd round game didn’t go our way. My team matured and I learned a lot about myself and my teammates."

What were your season stats?

"My season stats were 1912 passing yards with 20 passing TDS and 1080 rushing yards with 24 rushing TDS. On defense, I had 30 tackles, 2 interceptions, and had 2 fumble recoveries."

What are your strengths on the football field?

"My strengths on the field are my abilities to make clutch plays. I’d say i have the ability to communicate and put my team in the best position to win. I play with confidence and body language is always positive."

What other sports do you participate in?

"I play basketball, baseball and I run track. I participated in the 4 x 800 relay in the state championship last year."

What schools are interested in you and do you have any favorites?

"My dream school is UNC-Chapel Hill, but im interested Coastal Carolina, Charleston Southern, Oberlina College, and Lake Forest College."

What player do you model your game after and why?

"I would say I best model my game after Baker Mayfield. I play with a lot of confidence but always humble. I have the ability to make plays on my feet and through the air. When the big play is needed, I make it."
