The first ever Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools middle school championship was held at Mallard Creek High School on Saturday.
VTO Sports were the event organizers and had several middle school teams participate in a tournament. The Queen City Football Championship was between Piedmont Middle School and Ranson Middle School.
Both schools came into the game with impressive resumes as Piedmont had not lost a game in 10 years while Ranson had not lost in 8 years.
Piedmont won the first annual Queen City Football Championship by a score of 26-14.
"We made history on Saturday at Mallard Creek HS. We crowned the first ever Middle School Queen City Football Champion," said Vince Jacobs, founder of VTO Sports and the tournament director. "It was a beautiful day for football and both teams played an incredible game. The top two middle schools in Charlotte got chance to settle the question of which program was the best on the field."
This event is only the beginning for middle school championship events in Charlotte as the partnership with VTO Sports and CMS Athletics is moving forward with a Queen City Middle School Basketball Championship in February.
