2004 Outlook: Rocky Mount is coming off a season where it set school records for points scored and total offense. The Gryphons worked hard during the off season. If they can avoid injuries to their key personnel, Rocky Mount could be successful this year.
SENIORS: Terrell Hudgins (QB, 6-3, 205, 4.62) - Passed 90-175-1,954 and 20 TDs. Terrell has already set school career passing records for yards and touchdown passes. Stephan Virgil (RB/DB, 6-0, 180, 4.44) - Started as a freshman. Mr. Everything. May be listed as an All-State candidate by different media's at RB, DB, and as an Athlete. Last season's total rushing yardage and receiving yardage was not all that high, but his average per carry and catch were phenomenal. He carried the pigskin 53 times for 558 yards and six TDs. He caught eleven passes for 358 yards and seven TDs. This equates to an average of 10.53 yards per carry and 32.55 yards per catch. Robert Hart (LB, 6-0, 210, 4.75). Darrell Finkley (5-9, 185, 4.6). Will Johnson (SE, 5-10, 165, 4.7). Chad Hagen (OG, 5-10, 220, 5.0). Travis Harley (DT, 6-2, 265, 4.85). Robert DeBerry (OG, 5-10, 220, 5.0). Tarvis Payton (DB/Rec, 5-7, 155, 4.7). Brian Jones (LB/TE, 6-3, 220, 4.75) - Could be big surprise. Wayne Noble (SE/DB, 5-11, 165, 4.52) - Great young man. Kelon Lawrance (LB/TE, 6-1, 195, 4.8).
JUNIORS: Chaucy Perry (OT, 6-2, 285, 5.35). Brandon Arrington (FS/Rec, 6-0, 175, 4.7). Tim Pittman, FB/LB, 6-0, 185, 4.7). Quiton Price (OL, 6-1, 265, 5.4). Ashuf Hatu (OL/DL, 6-0, 235, 5.2) - Very strong. Kendrick Dean (HB, 5-8, 160, 4.5) - Had injury to leg last season. Looks to be very good and ready to go this season. Jonathan Tyndall (FB/LB, 5-9, 175, 4.75). Tilon Payton (SE/DB, 6-2, 175, 4.7). Mathew Virgil (Rec/LB, 6-1, 182, 4.65) - Could be an answer to season's questions.
