ASHEVILLE (NC) - Over 100 student-athletes participated in the second segment of the VTO Sports HS Regional Showcase series held at the Asheville High School on Sunday,
This series will be held at more locations throughout North Carolina and Virginia. With the uncertainty of high school football nation-wide these showcases are designed to give the participants a chance for some exposure to play at the next level.
The event was live-streamed and can be seen HERE. There were Division 2 college coaches on site as well. Division 1 coaches are not allowed to attend the event, but can view through the live-stream.
NOTABLE PLAYERS:
Dakota Twitty, a class of 2022 wide receiver from Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy in Mooresboro, NC was one of the top ranked players in attendance. The 3-star prospect has over 20 Division 1 scholarship offers. He took home the MVP honors for the wide receiver group.
Tama McDonough, a class of 2021 defensive end from Asheville (NC) High School was impressive in the showcase. The Yale commit earned the defensive line MVP for his efforts.
A name to key an eye on is class of 2021 quarterback Dawson Cox out of Ashe County High in West Jefferson, NC. The signal-caller has a lot potential and has several FCS and Division 2 schools interested in him.
