WILMINGTON (NC) - Around 125 student-athletes participated in the fifth segment of the VTO Sports HS Regional Showcase series held at Legion Stadium on Sunday,

This series will be held at more locations throughout North Carolina. With the uncertainty of high school football nation-wide these showcases are designed to give the participants a chance for some exposure to play at the next level.

NOTABLE PLAYERS:

Carter Wyatt, a class of 2022 linebacker from West Brunswick High School in Shallotte, NC was among some of the top players in attendance. Wyatt has been getting recruiting interest from Duke and Virginia Tech and was selected as the LB MVP.

There were a couple of underclassmen that stood out in the showcase. Defensive tackle K.J. Sampson of New Bern (NC) High School continues to be impressive in the camp circuit. Another prospect to be on the lookout is 2023 quarterback Aliam Appler from New Hanover High School in Wilmington. The local signal-caller was the QB MVP at the VTO Sports Elite 100 in Fayetteville (NC) last weekend and earned the camp's top underclassmen award on Sunday.
