Chris' QB Corner: Dominique Shoffner (Middle Creek)

Middle Creek is off to another great season on the gridiron. The 2016 Mustangs are currently 7-0 overall and 4-0 in conference action.

One of the big reasons the Mustangs are one of the favorites in the 4A class is the play of senior QB Dominique Shoffner. Shoffner completed 12 of 15 passes for 182 yards with 2 touchdowns in a big 49-9 win over Holly Springs this week. For the 2016 season, Dominque has completed 71 of 117 passes for 1,086 yards with 12 touchdowns.


NCPreps.com’s Chris Hemphill spoke to Shoffner about his current football season and recruiting.


How tall are you?

“6'1.”

How is your team doing so far this year?

“We are doing great. We are undefeated with a 7-0 record. I expect a lot from my team because we are mainly experienced seniors. I have had three straight seasons of being undefeated in the regular season at this point. We have extremely high goals.”

Are any colleges recruiting you? If so, what schools have offered?

“Yes, I am currently being recruited by D1 and D2 schools. I have offers from Davidson College and Fayetteville State University.”

What things did you work on in the off-season to help better prepare you for this season?

“My workout focuses on three areas: field training, weight room, and film. I train four days a week on technique, accuracy, speed and agility, I also hit the weight room hard daily to increase my strength. Lastly, I study film for hours to try and perfect my craft mentally.”

What are your stats so far?

“ I have completed 71 of 117 passes for 1,086 with 12 touchdowns and ran for 8 touchdowns.”

What was your GPA this past school year?

“3.6”

What was your longest pass this year?

“My longest pass this year was a 65-yard TD pass to Shammond Hicks.”

What is the most touchdowns you have thrown for in a game?

“The most touchdowns I have thrown in a game is three. I am normally taken out after two quarters of play because of large blow out leads.”

How often do you break down game film?

“I watch film every day for about 2 hours.”

How much do you bench press?

“315 lbs”

What is the biggest game left on your schedule?

“Our biggest game left is our upcoming game on 10/13 against our rival Fuquay-Varina.”

What is your favorite college football team?

“UNC Tar Heels.”

What is something your good at outside of football that people may not know?

“People may not know that I am drummer and have some skills on the drum set.”

Who are your biggest influences?

“My mother is because she is a huge inspiration to me and motivates me in every aspect of life.”

What makes you a leader?

“I am a hard worker and lead by example on and off the field. I encourage my teammates to always do their best, even when they're down. Helping others in every possible way is important to me.”
