GREENVILLE (NC) - Wide receiver C.J. Johnson of D.H. Conley High has decided that he wants to play collegiate football in his hometown. The 6'2 190 pounder committed to the East Carolina Pirates on Thursday afternoon. He selected the Pirates over North Carolina and Virginia Tech.
Johnson was among the state's leading receivers by hauling in 68 passes for 1,547 yards with 31 touchdowns. Those numbers earned him AP All-State and NCPreps.com 3A All-State.
He will join his former Viking teammate QB Holton Ahlers (Class of 2018) at East Carolina. Ahlers signed with the Pirates last December.
