Earlier this summer, it finally happened for Northern Guilford's Nolan Hodge. The class of 2022 shooting guard picked up his first offer, Duquesne. For those paying attention Hodge picking up an A10 offer, right out the gate, came as no surprise. However, for many this was the first introduction they had to Hodge.

“I am striving in my game to be a do-it-all wing, someone who is able to do whatever it takes for my team to win the game. I would say I excel in the mid-range and shooting from three.”

Adding to the Duquesne offer, Hodge also has an Old Dominion offer. We discussed both these schools and Hodge gave his thoughts.

Duquesne: “They were my first off, that means a lot. They have expressed they really like what I do and I am developing a good relationship with their coaches.”

Old Dominion: “Coach (Bryant) Stith reaches out a lot. We talk about how I’m

feeling, how I’m doing and stuff. He tells me all the time about how I fit with what they do.”

His recruitment is still in its infancy, as many other schools are also in contact, but he does have an idea for when he would like to commit by.

“Davidson, UNC Greensboro, Belmont, Elon, Florida Atlantic have all been in contact with me. We’ll see what happens with them, but I would like to commit to a school by the end of summer.”

This previous summer Hodge feels he was able to take his game to a new level. While he was able to play some with his travel ball team, it was the training and workouts he felt really advanced his skill set.

“I was able to play some with the Gaters, but I did a lot of training this summer. Working out with my trainer, Coach Irv (Turner), we really worked on ball handling and shooting. We also broke things down and did a lot of situational work, reading screens and stuff.”

Hodge, a junior, stands at a rangy 6’6” and his coach, Kellan Parrish, does a great job of lining Hodge up across different spots on the floor to exploit mismatches. Through three games this season Hodge is averaging 21.3 points on 60% shooting from the field. He is also chipping in 5.7 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 2.3 steals per game. He leads his team in both scoring and rebounding and his team is currently 3-0.

As a final “basketball is in his blood” tidbit, Hodge’s father Derek Hodge played at Bridgewater College from 1988-1992 and his brother, Kellan Hodge is currently playing basketball at Bridgewater College.
