Perhaps no player in North Carolina has elevated their stock more, from the start of the season until now, than Trey Green. This off-season Green made the decision to transfer from Vance High School to Lake Norman Christian, where he has played a national schedule with a lot of eyes on him.

“The season has been a transition for me, just because the level we are playing against. The adjustment to playing that point guard role, so its definitely slowing down because I know that is what I will be playing at the next level.”

When the lights have shined the brightest, it seems Green has stepped up the most. That has also brought some early recruitment his way.

“Right now, my offers are Howard University and Winthrop University.” Green continued, “It’s been a couple schools, NC State, Kansas, that’s just been looking, you know, a couple schools that’s been contacting me but they haven’t offered yet.”

While a college decision is still off in the distance Green knows that he will not have to look far for any guidance through the recruiting process.

“It helps that my dad, he played football at Duke, has been through it. You know though, he’s my dad so I don’t want to listen, but I got to because he’s been through it.”

Watching Green play, he has a sense of electricity to his game.

“I’m a real quick scoring guard who can facilitate also. A lot of people compare me to Damian Lillard, because of the scoring piece, but I can facilitate too.”

With so much happening this season, Green has stayed focused on the same goal throughout.

“I want to continue to build with my teammates and continue to build as a point guard. And most definitely, I want to win nationals.”

Rivals Reaction

Two traits no one will ever accuse Trey Green of lacking is confidence and toughness. His offensive skill set is robust, as he has a tight handle, with good footwork and a pure jump shot with deep range. He has the ability to get to his spots on the floor and get his shot off in most situations during the course of a game. Defensively, he has the athleticism and toughness to be a 94-foot type ball hawk. Its hard to remember, when watching him play, that Green is only a sophomore.
